Journey to the sources
Journey to the sources
Prameny Winery is located on the northern edge of the Morava wine region, just a few kilometres east of Uherské Hradiště. The Morava River and the Chřiby Mountains dominate the local landscape, creating a balanced and distinctive climate. Low rainfall, steady winds, and frequent autumn fogs provide ideal conditions for viticulture. We have a deep connection to this region and its winemaking tradition, and, trusting in the wisdom of our ancestors we carry forward the legacy they left behind.
Riesling forms the foundation of our winery, representing over 90% of our total production. Long cultivation practice and consistent grape quality across vintages confirm that the local soil and climate are exceptionally well-suited to this variety. Knowing that Riesling requires outstanding vineyard sites, we grow it exclusively in historically proven locations – places carefully chosen and verified by generations before us.

Our vineyards are managed in harmony with nature. We apply practices that promote cooperation between naturally occurring organisms, drawing inspiration from permaculture, biodynamics, regenerative agriculture, and agroforestry. As the first winery in the region to manage vineyards according to organic production rules, we understand that true balance in nature cannot be achieved simply by following regulations. That is why we go further, caring for the soil and ecosystem with respect and a long-term vision. Our vineyards are cultivated without irrigation systems, and all work, including selective grape harvesting into small crates, is done by hand.

In the cellar, our goal is to capture the authentic character of each site and vintage. We avoid all oenological additives – including acidification and chaptalization. Instead, we gently process the grapes using gravity and allow them to ferment spontaneously with native yeasts from each vineyard. This approach brings the unique expression of origin to the forefront.
After fermentation, the wines are aged for 9 to 21 months in neutral containers and bottled without fining or filtration under natural cork stoppers. Their sulfur dioxide content is approximately 70% lower than in conventional production – a balance we consider ideal for preserving purity, supporting long-term aging, and respecting consumer health.
